Quick Navigation

1. Our Commitment to Accessibility

Summary: MDZuri is committed to making its platform accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities.

MDZuri Healthcare is committed to ensuring that its digital platform is accessible to the widest possible audience, regardless of technology or ability. We believe that everyone deserves equal access to healthcare services, and we work continuously to improve the accessibility of our website and patient portal for all users, including those with visual, auditory, motor, or cognitive disabilities.

This statement was prepared on 1 May 2026. It was last reviewed on 1 May 2026.

2. Standards We Follow

Summary: We aim to conform to WCAG 2.1 Level AA, the internationally recognised standard for web accessibility.

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with disabilities. Conformance with these guidelines helps make the web more user-friendly for everyone.

We also follow the four principles of accessibility — that content must be Perceivable, Operable, Understandable, and Robust (POUR).

3. What We Have Done

Summary: We have implemented a range of technical and design measures to improve accessibility across the platform.

We have taken the following steps to improve accessibility:

  • Semantic HTML: We use semantic markup (headings, landmarks, lists) so screen readers can navigate the page structure correctly.
  • Keyboard navigation: All interactive elements — buttons, links, form fields, and modals — are accessible using a keyboard alone.
  • Focus indicators: Visible focus rings are displayed on all interactive elements so keyboard users can see where they are on the page.
  • ARIA labels: We use ARIA attributes to provide context for screen readers where HTML semantics alone are insufficient.
  • Colour contrast: Text and interactive elements meet WCAG AA contrast ratios (minimum 4.5:1 for normal text, 3:1 for large text).
  • Text resizing: The layout is responsive and remains usable when text is scaled up to 200% in browser settings.
  • Alternative text: Images that convey information have descriptive alt text. Decorative images have empty alt attributes.
  • Form labels: All form inputs have associated visible labels and descriptive error messages.
  • Motion reduction: Animations respect the prefers-reduced-motion media query, reducing or eliminating motion for users who prefer it.
  • Responsive design: The platform is designed for all screen sizes, from mobile phones to large desktop monitors.

4. Known Limitations

Summary: We are aware of some areas that do not yet fully meet accessibility standards and are actively working to resolve them.

Despite our best efforts, some content may not yet fully conform to WCAG 2.1 Level AA. Known limitations include:

  • Video consultations: Live video sessions do not currently support real-time captions. We are evaluating captioning solutions and aim to introduce this in a future release.
  • PDF documents: Some downloadable documents (e.g. appointment summaries) may not be fully accessible to screen readers. We are working to produce tagged, accessible PDF versions.
  • Third-party content: Some embedded third-party tools (e.g. payment forms) may not fully conform to our accessibility standards. We raise these issues with our suppliers and seek alternatives where possible.
  • Complex charts: Data visualisations in health reports are not yet accompanied by tabular data equivalents. This is scheduled for a future update.

5. Assistive Technology Support

Summary: MDZuri is tested with common screen readers and works best with modern browsers.

The platform has been tested with the following assistive technologies:

  • Screen readers: NVDA with Firefox, JAWS with Chrome, VoiceOver with Safari (macOS and iOS), TalkBack (Android)
  • Screen magnification: ZoomText, built-in OS magnification (Windows Magnifier, macOS Zoom)
  • Voice control: Dragon NaturallySpeaking, Voice Control (macOS/iOS)
  • Switch access: Basic switch navigation has been tested on iOS and Android

For the best experience, we recommend using a modern, up-to-date browser such as Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Edge, or Apple Safari.

6. Text & Display Adjustments

Summary: You can adjust text size, contrast, and other display settings using your browser or operating system without losing content or functionality.

You can customise your display without breaking the platform:

  • Browser zoom: Use Ctrl/Cmd + Plus or Ctrl/Cmd + Minus to increase or decrease text size. Content reflows at up to 400% zoom on most pages.
  • High contrast mode: The platform respects Windows High Contrast Mode and macOS Increase Contrast settings.
  • Dark mode: A dark theme is available within the platform settings for users who find it easier to read on a dark background.
  • Font size: Changing the default font size in your browser settings is respected by the platform.

7. Keyboard Navigation

Summary: The entire platform can be navigated using a keyboard. Common shortcuts apply throughout.

You can navigate the MDZuri platform entirely with a keyboard using these standard keys:

KeyAction
TabMove focus to the next interactive element
Shift + TabMove focus to the previous interactive element
